Intro…

The elevator just closed and you’ve got 30 seconds to pitch the random reader on who you are and why they should read your rants.  Go..

I’ve been in this industry (applicant tracking/recruiting/technology) since 1982.  My first experience with a “technological breakthrough” was the fax machine.  While I can’t tell you how a fax machine actually works, I do know how it was able to make the recruiting industry faster and more efficient.  I’ve seen a number of innovations since then and for the most part I don’t know the “bits” and “bytes” of how they work, but I understand how the recruiting profession can use these innovations to be more effective.   I’ll try to provide you with an analysis of the tools and technology that can make your job easier!

Name the actor/actress that will portray you in the movie about you.  Why is that a fit?

Obviously these questions were given to us by our marketing department…  they watch a lot of movies…  and I don’t.  The only actors/actresses that I know are comedians and I really wouldn’t want them to portray me…  I’m a pretty serious guy;)

My first car was a <blank> and here’s how it defined who I am….

My first car was 1965 Chevy Impala SS with primer spots where the rust was beginning to eat away the fenders.  I don’t think it defined who I was, but more or less what I could afford at the time.  They don’t make them like that anymore (thankfully).

What is your favorite song, and how does it relate to who you are?

Because of my age, you thought I was going to give you some song from the 70’s or 80’s, right?  Wrong!  How about “Big Yellow Taxi” by Counting Crows and Venessa Carlton?  I like the message… “you don’t know what you got till it’s gone”.  I think we would all be happier if we took a little time to appreciate what we have.   Ok… ok… the original version is from the 70’s, but I like the Counting Crows version better…

If you could trade places with a celebrity for a day, who would you choose and why?

Well this is a no-brainer…  Tiger Woods…

– Plays the sport I love for a living

– Wins almost everything he competes in

– Has laser-like focus

– Seems to have a balanced life outside of golf
