Ok, maybe not literally. I don’t want to letter from the your legal team. But, candidates are airing their frustrations with the application process and HR is taking notice. Case in point, this year at the annual HR Technology Conference, the first Candidate Experience Awards were given to 24 companies with 5 receiving special recognition.
During the conference, we sat down with HRmarketer’s Kevin Grossman to talk about our recent content piece “Every Job Seeker Should Be Treated Like Gold” and his thoughts on the candidate experience. In a nutshell, Kevin explained that the applicant is looking for a user friendly process that provides acknowledgement. (To view his response, please watch the YouTube video Candidate Experience – Thoughts from HRmarketer)
At myStaffingPro,we agree with Kevin and the Talent Board (Corporation behind the Candidate Experience Awards)! We have long recognized that applying for a position is an extension of the corporate brand and that applicants should be treated like customers. The good news is that the candidate experience can be improved in a number of ways, and they aren’t all complex. Here are a few tips your company can take to improve the experience of its job applicants:
- Provide easy access to apply by adding a link to the career search screen on your website’s homepage.
- Integrate the application with the company culture, build it as an extension of the brand with testimonials and videos
- Set expectations by providing the job seeker with an estimated time to complete the application
