Using LinkedIn to Attract Applicants

There are two key places that you can advertise your job openings on LinkedIn:

  1. Status updates
  2. Jobs/Careers (From the main navigation it is listed as Jobs, and from the Company it is listed under Careers)

How to share your job openings through LinkedIn’s status updates:

  1. Log into LinkedIn
  2. Compose your status update with:
    1. “Apply Now”/”Now Hiring”
    2. Job title
    3. Company name
    4. Location
    5. URL to apply
  3. Click the Share button*

*If your LinkedIn account joined to Twitter, select the check box to tweet your status update. Be sure to add hashtags to categorize your tweet and check your character count to make sure that you are under the 140 character cut-off.

How to add your job openings to the Jobs/Careers section:

  • Option 1: Buy a PAID posting package from LinkedIn
  • Option 2: Post your jobs on the FREE job board SimplyHired.com. If there aren’t any jobs on LinkedIn that match your criteria, the search will automatically pull in the matches from Simply Hired.

Even if LinkedIn has paid postings, the candidate can select a link to see more jobs from Simply Hired.
